Course Overview Information

 

The learner will:

  1. Understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat
  2. Understand how to keep vulnerable people safe
  3. Understand licensing law relevant to the role of a door supervisor
  4. Understand queue management and venue capacity responsibilities relevant to a door supervisor
  5. Understand the requirements of providing clear and concise instructions to the principal and team members in emergency situations
  6. Know how to respond to a change in operational conditions from standard operating procedures (SOP) to emergency operating procedures (EOP)
  7. Know the responsibilities of the close protection team when there is an immediate physical threat to the principal
  8. Understand the necessity for narrowing the concentric layers of protection when managing an immediate threat to the principal
  9. Understand the implications of common and criminal law when using force on another person
  10. Know the positive alternatives to using physical intervention skills in a close protection environment
  11. Understand associated threats as a result of an attempted assault or unwarranted attention towards a principal
  12. Know how to apply physical intervention skills in a justifiable, ethical, and professional manner
  13. Be able to use non-pain compliant soft skills to prevent harm to a principal
  14. Be able to use defensive non-pain compliant skills to protect self from assault
  15. Be able to use non-pain compliant methods of protecting the inner cordon
  16. Be able to protect the principal from assault
  17. Be able to communicate effectively to encourage de-escalation
  18. Understand physical interventions and the implications of their use
  19. Understand the risks associated with using physical intervention
  20. State the specific risks associated with positional asphyxia
  21. Understand how to reduce the risks associated with physical intervention
  22. Identify how to deal with physical interventions on the ground appropriately
  23. State how to manage and monitor a person’s safety during physical intervention
  24. Be able to use physical skills to protect yourself and others
  25. Be able to use non-pain compliant standing, holding and escorting techniques

You must provide:

If you are a UK passport holder, your passport number entered on the application form. You do not need to submit the actual passport.

Signed valid passport of any other nationality.

Driving licence photocard if it was issued by the DVLA in Great Britain. We will not accept the photocard on its own if it was issued by the DVA in Northern Ireland.

UK original birth certificate issued within 12 months of birth

UK biometric residence permit card

  • Group B (Address & Identity)

Valid UK firearms licence with photo.

Current UK driving licence - paper version (not the paper counterpart to a photocard).

P45 statement of income for tax purposes on leaving a job issued in the last 12 months.

P60 annual statement of income for tax purposes issued in the last 12 months.

Bank or building society statement issued to your current address, less than three months old. You can use more than one statement as long as each is issued by a different bank or building society.

Mortgage statement issued in the last 12 months.

Utility bill (gas, electric, telephone, water, satellite, cable) issued to your current address within the last three months. NOTE: You can only submit one utility bill in support of your SIA application.

Pension, endowment or ISA statement issued in last 12 months.

Letter from H.M. Revenue & Customs, Department of Work and Pensions, employment service, or local authority issued within the last three months. You can submit more than one letter as long as each is issued by a different Government department or a different local authority.

A credit card statement sent to your current address within the last three months. You can submit more than one statement as long as each is issued by a different issuer.

Council Tax statement issued in the last 12 months.

  • Group B (Identity Only)

Driving licence photocard (without a paper counterpart) issued by the DVA in Northern Ireland.

Valid EU photo card.

Marriage certificate or Civil Partnership certificate, with translation if not in English.

UK birth certificate issued more than 12 months after date of birth, but not a photocopy.

Non-UK birth certificate, with translation if not in English.

UK adoption certificate
